Cross Buck Saw (8441)
This cane is not in Dike, but I believe it’s manufactured so I won’t call it undocumented, but the rarest of the saw canes. It has the feel of the manufactured, mortician, La Terrible, assassins ,etc. It feels French. It has a wood tau handle, the choice for a lot of manufactured system canes. It seems all original right down to the string. Even the winder for the string has a slot on it to go over the blade in the center between the wood ends that fold in. The shaft is brass with a wood graining over top with great patina. It also has deep lines scratched in the metal making it look superior to most graining. The threads are lathe turned at the handle and ferrule. My guess is there is a patent for this somewhere in Europe. The slots for the saw giveaway that it does something but one would never guess what, from looking at it. That’s why I like gadget canes, there’s always a surprise.
