Doctors Catheter (8498)

This is a weird one. Beleive it or not. How the shaft on this one was made is what makes this one impressive to me. Canes with snakes on them were carved out of one piece of wood, this one has a lathe turned and tapered shaft with a snake hand carved separately so it could be glued to the shaft. Where the snake attaches to the shaft is perfectly flat at the shaft. The best I can see the snake is all one piece. The Presentation tau handle, which is usually on a plain tapered shaft like the inner shaft. There is a formal handle on a folkart shaft with a catheter attached to the handle, which screws off. All original finish on shaft with ink in scales on snake. Ferrule is a bullet casing with patena, so it wasn't factory made. Looks to me like a craftsman bought the handle from a catalog and turned the shaft to fit the handle.
I bought this 30 years ago, and don't know what somebody would pay for it today, or if anybody would even want a cane like this, so I added up the parts and came to.
