Large Animal Medicine Administration Cane (8717)
Too well made to homemade and too informal to be factory. Nicely made with great patena. Not expensive, but tells a story of the need for what it does. Put medicine in the container in the bottom of the ferrule, about 2". Push the ring after putting it down the throat of the animal, and it gets well. It's hard to tell the age of this one, but I'm sure it's between 1850 and something. The key to why it's here is to illustrate that no one would bother to make this cane today. I would catagorize this cane as an oddity. I love tool canes because they are a reflection of the people who owned them. A lot are single use with a single need. It's possible to have a very interesting collection for very little money. This is undocumented, one of a kind, antique, and as I've already said not expensive.
