Reliquary, Rhino, Engraved And Blued blade Sword Cane (8846)

This sword cane is my favorate and is the first of a whole grouping of sword canes. Even if you don't like sword canes they have a lot to teach us about canes. My reliquary cane collection, illustrated in the book under show and tell, Canes of Faith, is also my favorate book. The bones of two Saints are in the reliquary holder on the top of this cane. St. Gres centini M., and St. Constantius M.have M at the end of their name meaning they were martyred. Constantius was also known as Costanzo, and was the first bishop of Perugia, Italy at age 30. He evangelized his people, cared for the poor, and lived a simple life that shamed the ruling classes. Imprisoned, tortured and martyred with many of his flock in the persecution of Marcus Aurelius. He was beheaded in 170 AD. If you buy this cane you will actually get a piece of his bone. Think of the connection you will have with this Saint. Its believed when you pray to these Saints, they will carry your prayers to God.
The handle is Rhino horn and the highly engraved blade has most of its original bluing and gold inlay. It's the best blade of all the sword canes listed, and the best feature are the cannons engraved into both sides of the blade, which means it was made for a military man. Because of the length of the ferrule, I believe it was made not long before the Civil War Circa 1860. Each sword cane on this site is special and has features that make each unique and different than every other. Buying them all would be a smart investment.
