Obama Exeutive Ivory Ban (398211)
Barrack Obama without Congress has made an executive order that no Elephant Ivory can be sold in the United states, no matter if it is modern or 300 years old. That includes Steinway pianos with ivory keys. Even though the law says only Elephant Ivory, the United States government can confiscate any white material; wart hog tusk, mammoth ivory that's 5000 years old that is extinct, walrus ivory, whale bone, stag horn, cow horn, camel bone or anything else that looks like ivory. It is then up to the owner to prove it is not elephant ivory or face the possibility of 20 years in prison and a $500,000 fine. Until there is time to understand how aggressive the government is going to be, antique cane world is removing all Elephant and other materials an unknowledgeable person might confiscate thinking it was ivory. The law allows the hunting of 2 Elephants with the hunter legally able to bring the tusk of those slain animals to the United States. It is legal to kill elephants and bring into the US the ivory, but not able to own 100 year old pieces.
