 Signed Sample On The Pat. Handle Mechanism (8162)
Whats amazing about this one is the condition of the silk cover, which is perfect. The rosewood handle has a simple elegance, but the mechanism to hold the ends of the stays against the handle is the interesting part. Each stay tip has its own loop to go in. This was an attempt to make a simple mechanism to turn a umbrella into a cane. I know it's silk, because this mechanism is also labeled India silk. Circa 1900
