Early Sword Cane. (8251)

Triangular gilded and engraved blade is early. My mind likes to put dates on canes, this one is difficult for me to get very close with confidence. The massive ivory naturally shaped handle with simple bands, is I think before or after the Victorian period. I say that so you can get used to thinking Victorian is ornate, before and after weren't. The blade and length of ferrule make it before 1840 the beginning of the Victorian period. Queen Victoria died in 1891, making that the end of it. I also know 18th century blades were large with usually one cutting edge and a sharp point. What I don't know is when they started to make these triangular engraved blades with fire gilt gold in the engraving. There is also no bluing pattern on this blade, which you get used to seeing on this type of blade. Is the bluing missing or is it earlier than the blued blades.
I know this is more information than you wanted to know, but remember I'm a member here too. I think it's somewhere between 1800 and 1840 and that for me is too long a space.
