Parasol Dated 1888 (8258)

The spring that holds the mechanism up is Pat. March 3, 1888. I have several parasols with the same mechanism, but they all have different cover patterns. I like the lace one this linon one. The problem with them is, the mechanisms are made from steel, and when they get wet, rust gets on the cloth. I have yet to try and get the rust out of one of these. It just shows they used them in the rain, wheather by accident or not, they ended up being used as canes.
