Priest Communion (8265)
Priest cane for Communion. The shaft has a 25” flask in a hard maple shaft. The one piece English hallmarked for 1898,sterling handle, has a porcelain hand painted picture of Jesus on an invisible lid. The hinge and latch are both hidden and has a secret method of opening it. At the moment it has a huge sterling rosary in it. I believe the handle was made for the bread of communion, and the flask for wine. The handle screws off and when turned upside down becomes a communion cup. Most canes of faith are catholic, and this one is no exception. The shaft is a typical manufactured tipplers cane, our first example of a shaft made for another use. Does that make it unauthentic? What do you think?
