Hindu Holy Man (8270)
This crutch handle is made from sterling inlaid into iron, a favorite style of India. You can tell it ‘s earlier and has a well used feel than the more typical sword cane made from this material. This one, I am told, belonged to a Hindu holy man. That he put this under his chin when he prayed for long periods of time, to hold his head up. I would like to hear from a Hindu on the custom, how long they prayed, and so on. I have never met a Hindu holy man. Now comes the fun part, the shaft screws off 18” down the shaft. When I put it under my chin and rest it on a table it really does work.
