Microscope For Bugs (8412)

This one is right near the top as my favorate system. Mostly because of how original the finish on both the handle and the shaft. The handle has that orange color you get from laquer ageing. You can't duplicate that. The compass on top also has the same color. The handle and shaft perfectly match at 2" at the top, and tapers to 1.2" at the ferrule. The shaft is oak with the original finish. A 1" hole goes thru the entire shaft. A ink well, torch, ivory scalples, pen and ivory bug stickers complete the tube in the interior. It even has some of the laquer left on it. A spike in the ferrule reverses to stick in the ground. I don't know what my biggest motivation is for going thru this effort, the education I love to give or the hope that someone knows the answers to the questions I have. I don't know what country this one was made. There are no markings of any kind, not even on the compass, which is often signed. I'd guess it's too good to be anything but English, but I don't know.
