Doctors (8450)

I consider this an important physicians cane. Its about as elaborate a cane as you can get. It has over 40 instruments, and a quality that few canes could match. Lets start at the bottom and work our way up. Holding the handle and turning the ferrule screws off the leather covered shaft. The ferrule when pulled removes a long anodized black aluminum tube, with three oval 7” openings. In each opening are surgical instruments, filling each tube. When in place nothing rattles and is a perfect fit. The handle comes apart in two pieces, with the lower part containing items too large to fit in shaft. Scissors, catheters, bandages, etc. The top part of the handle says the following; Phonendoscope, Trade Marked , Bazzi-Banchi, Bowles Pat. Jan 19, 97,Roma, Sole Agents U. S. A., G. P. Ping, Philadelphia. Inside is a stethoscope with the same markings as on the twist off lid. It has the original rubber tubes and earpieces. I ask a medical expert, and the patient is for the Phonendoscope, which came with the nickel plate container it’s in. This part of the handle is the part of the cane that was made for another use. See Gadget cane Philosophy under cane forum. The container below the handle matches the top and fits perfectly. The mechanism for the shaft on the handle also fits the shaft perfectly. All the nickel matches. All the instruments are of the same period as the cane. What do you think?
