Processional Crosses (8655)

These two canes have the same use, which is to lead a processional, for a funeral , wedding, etc. When the handles are removed there is a candle inside which then can be put on top of the cross for a candle holder. The one with a grained engraved bark has a matching engraved handle and shaft. The plain one has a three oil container above the cross and below the matching brass knob. The shaft on this one is olive wood. This one is probably the most valuable of the two. Most crucifixes are square, with both of these being round to match the shafts. I would think both of these are 1890 or before.
