A Gun Cane That Can't Be Loaded. (8804)

The stag handle turns a full turn to cock. As the handle is turned the firing pin retracts about an inch. There is a small ring below the handle that when pushed allows the firing pin to be released. Below that is a separation with a hole in the shaft. There is two small screws in the shaft, which is the only way to separate the shaft from the firing mechanism. There is no place to put a cartridge here. There are threads at the entrence to the shaft. Is this a needle fire? Right now I'm thinking some one welded the two parts together to make it a nonuseable gun. The original finish on the barrel would be destroyed if heat were used. Any body know what a needle fire cartridge looks like?
