 Quack Gold Finder Cane (9224)
It took me a long time to decide whether I would defend this cane, as its such a unique cane. The patena on the parts all match and I can find nothing wrong with it, except the hand on the gold attraction meter is missing. The wand hanging on the bottom of the spring coil is used for attracting gold and the hand measures the distance and the amount of attraction. The gold dust in the glass circle attracts the gold. Of course I made all this up just like someone else made this mechanism to convince others they too could find gold with this scientific mechanism. The reason I know what it is, is that I have another cane with a baleen dozer handle that has a coil hanging from it with a rod just like this one. The dial mechanism is much more elaborate, and obviously more expenseive to buy this one. The other cane with the Y dozer handle has a complete set of interchangable rods to also find silver,and copper. This cane has no more room inside to find anything but gold. I assume it was made in the last quarter of the 19th.
