Iron Age Staff? (8443)

This iron handled staff is a mystery. It is the only one I have ever seen with an iron handle. The owners initials are engraved in it. I’ve wondered if it was from the iron age of the 15 hundreds. I ask a couple of experts and they didn’t think so because the ferrule type, definitely original, didn’t look that old. The ferrule was used for mountain walking. Here are the pictures, I would love to know more.
