Telescope With 1787 Coin On Top Ivory Handle (8466)
One sign of a 18th century telescope is they were tappered, had one draw, lense covers, and wood covered. I don't know whether some didn't have those features, but this one has them all. The color of the shaft perfectly matches the telescope, and the ferrule is 4". The ivory handle is 2.25" with ivory threads. The coin in the top is high caret gold with enameling in the shields, and I have no idea what coin it is. I estimate the gold value at over $100. Most collectors are suspicious of any coins on canes, as they are so easy to add. Therefore there is no reason to add coins, as they don't add value. Look at the cane, not the coin. The me about the coin and I'll give you $50.
