Undocumented Sextent (8230)
This cane is here not only because of how interesting it is, but because of the implications and questions it brings. For a complete background read gadget cane philosophy under forum. This sextent made around WWI 1914.
They were made by a number of instrament companies. They make a reproduction signed by Stanley in India. This original one is in part considered a handle made for another use. They were generally made as a pocket piece. The silver plated brass covering on this sextent would be near impossible to make to fit as perfectly as this one. The bottom line is, there will be the suspicious that will never believe it of the period. My question will always be ,"What don't you like about it? You can't guarantee canes in this catagory are of the period or try to convince the suspicious they are old. As for this one, its not for sale at any price, its one of my most favorate gadgets.
