 Early Tiffany With Facited Onyx Handle (8240)
The latch button is the only thing signed on this one, but I am sure it is original. When you read about the next umbrella by lyon, you will see they are using the exact same style button. Lyon is signed maker, this one is not. The facited onyx handle is too good to have been made by lyon, most of theirs is in silver not stone, which leads me to believe they put tiffanys handles on their handles.
I love the pattern on this silk cover. When you open it, it is split at each stay line. See lyon below for an explanation on this. I know I'm not going to recover this one, the historical information this provides is more important than a working umbrella. I wonder if a umbrella maker would ever want a umbrella musium in their factory. I also wonder if a tiffany cane collector would ever want umbrellas made by tiffany. I think the tiffany cane collector should be the keeper of umbrellas used as canes, as a part of their collection.
