Recovered Parasols (8287)
The red one was replaced in the 1950's. It's nylon which was invented in 1939. It looks good, but it's certainly not period. The second picture shows large seems on the bottom side. It would never would have been done that way originally, to sloppy. The next picture is a pagotta style redone in the 1970's tone on tone. Well done. The second to last is one I had done, both undercover and lace cover. I got the cloth at a fabric store. I'm pleased how it turned out. The last picture is one that isn't redone. An example of a decision that needs to be made, to recover or not. The under cover is perfect. It could be fixed by removing the lace top. For now I'm going to keep it original.
