Dike has almost the same cane, with only the top as a knob, this has a tau handle. There is one container under the lid after its hinged open. Flowers are put in the lower part and seeds or insects, Dike tells us are put in the container.
I assume it's English as that's where I got it.
36"H with the handle and large horn ferrule. Circa 1880. I don't believe you can have a good gadget cane collection with out going to Europe, as the majority were made their. This is a wild guess, but I think we made 20%, Europe 60% and the rest of the world 20%.
