Close Look At A Dumonthier Gun Cane (8736)
A 100 years ago, companies copied Dumonthier's gun canes. They look like them, but their quality wasn't as good as the masters work. I am working at learning more about gun canes, I've had a lot of them, but you never really know the differences until you put them in your hands, examine them, and try to write about them. You can tell from the pictures of the gun cane collection above there are a lot of little variations, even from canes made by the same company, because they made them for long periods of time, and they improved them. Other companies also copied their styles, with their own variations. When I first saw Dikes gun chapters, I was amaized there were so many different ones made. I never intended to write about this cane until today, as it is in Dike, and I said I wouldn't put canes here that are in Dike, unless information could be added to make it worthwhile to do so. I think this is worthwhile, because of how much more the expert gun cane dealers, ask for Dumonthier than the look a likes. I've got one, that I think is a Dumonthier, but I'm not sure, because it was signed on the inside of the chamber and it is almost worn off. It is also different than this one because it has a button trigger, instead of a drop trigger, as this one has. It's 1:30 A.M. and I'm tired now, to be continued.
