Remington Rifle Cane with aftermarket handle (8741)

This Remington has a pin thru the top of the handle below the threads. There is a collar below the threads and at where the cartridge is inserted. The L presentation handle screws on as the other Remington. What’s most interesting is the screw on gutta-percha, hard rubber ferrule Is this an after market or were these made by Remington? This also has no serial number on the ferrule. How were Remington’s numbered? Could this be an early one before the standard handles. What is it worth if this is not original, which is most likely. Let’s here from those who know.
According to Elliot Burka, a remington rifle cane expert, both of mine have after market handles. See the next remington rifle cane for a complete explaination.
