 Massive Gold With Mother Of Pearl (8862)
This one is 13" long and a knob that is over 2". The size and the cut out flowers over mother of pearl is what gives it the validity to be here. I have a friend that gets upset that so many umbrella handles are put on cane shafts. I do agree with him to a point, I'd like to see handles stay on umbrellas and fix the cloths. The other side of the coin is that these handles could be purchased from catalogs as handles only or as canes. My position on this is that if they have a new shaft they were an umbrella handle that was made into a cane. That if the shaft is antique then it is posible that it was always a cane. The shape of this handle means it was made to be an umbrella handle. The question is, Does it's use determine its a cane or the shape of the handle determine it's not?
