 Silk Fan (9005)
Most flexible Fan cane I have seen. A gothic cylinder is on the inside of the matching gothic Bronze upper part of the shaft. Inside the cylinder is the fan which attaches to the end of the handle. The fan will also fit into the ivory knob handle of the cane. This is a patented fan that has a base for sitting on a table between, "My Lady", and the fireplace to keep her from getting a tan. The inner cylinder lifts out of the top for portable use. This is a very rare item to find complete. What am I saying, the patent is not cane related. This 1860's piece looked like it was converted a long time ago. The shaft and handle are of the period of when this would have been made. It's another example of a cane having a handle made for another use. The patena is perfect and untouched for nearly 150 years. It feels and looks great. I saw one other cane like this, and it sold for nearly 2000 and that was 10 to 15 years ago, and I'm not selling mine.
